EHang, the Chinese company specializing in urban aerial mobility, revealed the suggested retail price for its EH216-S passenger-carrying Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) system in China.
What is the price of the eVTOL EH216-S?
The company considers the price of 300,000 U.S. dollars per unit, starting April 1, 2024, given the vast industrial scale of China’s low-altitude economy and market potential, coupled with the rapidly growing global trend of low-altitude air services.
This will more efficiently meet market needs and further enhance the value of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and urban air mobility (UAM). The EH216-S is a pilotless eVTOL designed to carry two passengers up to a distance of 30 km at a maximum speed of 130 km/h, using 16 propellers mounted coaxially in pairs to achieve lift and propulsion.
An eVTOL approved for low-altitude flights
On December 28, 2023, the EH216-S passenger carrying unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) successfully completed its commercial flight demonstrations in Guangzhou and Hefei. This innovative aircraft system received its Type Certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China on October 13, 2023. Additionally, the aircraft obtained its Standard Airworthiness Certificate in December, allowing it to be delivered to corporate clients for low-altitude sightseeing and participation in urban tourism.
As the first pilotless passenger transport eVTOL aircraft system to obtain a standard airworthiness certificate, the EH216-S has been widely praised for its safety, innovation and applicability. It is planned to be used to offer commercial services in various scenarios, including low-altitude tourism and urban tourism; Therefore, its presence will continue to expand in different operational contexts.
” The low-altitude economy and its related industries present a significant market opportunity for the development of our UAM and serve as a new engine for future economic growth in China ,” said Mr. Huazhi Hu, Founder, Chairman and CEO by EHang. “We remain committed to safety in aircraft research, production, operation and commercial services, ensuring each of our pilotless aircraft continues to lead innovation. We look forward to collaborating with more global partners, offering consumers a novel safe, autonomous and green air mobility experience. Our goal is to make unmanned aerial vehicles a common part of everyday life, bringing their benefits to a wider audience.”.
