Aton Resources has announced the first results from its recent diamond drilling program at the Abu Marawat deposit in Egypt. Highlights include an impressive intersection of 8.98 g/t gold (Au), 185 g/t silver (Ag), 0.43% copper (Cu) and 6.12% zinc (Zn) over a 3.90 metre interval, obtained in hole AMD-110.
Diamond drilling in Abu Marawat and its potential
The company holds exclusive rights to Abu Marawat and is pursuing this project in the Arabian-Nubian Shield, a region rich in precious and base metals. Aton CEO Tonno Vahk noted that these initial results are very encouraging in the drilling area.
The main objective of the program is clear: to redefine and expand the mineral resources at Abu Marawat. Mineral drilling has been carried out in difficult-to-access mountainous areas, using specialized equipment to evaluate underexplored mineralization. In addition, the company plans to upgrade the resource category to indicated, with a view to developing several mining operations on the concession.
The Abu Marawat concession has shown great potential, with structures such as the Fin Vein and the Central Vein Zone, where high-grade polymetallic minerals have been detected. Furthermore, Aton highlights the continued collaboration with the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority to accelerate the development of the project, including other deposits such as Hamama West and Rodruin.
