Konecranes will supply two high-capacity, double-girder overhead cranes to Westcon Helgeland AS for its new production facility in Nesna, Norway. The contract was signed in the first quarter of 2026, and deliveries are scheduled for October of the same year.
The new industrial infrastructure will be geared towards the manufacture of equipment for the Norwegian oil and offshore industries. In this context, the cranes will allow for the handling of large and heavy components during production operations.
CXTD cranes for heavy lifting operations
The order includes two Konecranes CXTD double-girder cranes, each equipped with a main hoist of 2 x 80 tons and an auxiliary hoist of 10 tons. Each unit will have a span of 37.5 meters and a hook height of 17.4 meters.
These specifications will allow Westcon Helgeland to execute complex lifting operations related to the fabrication of structures and equipment for oil platforms and marine projects.
The incorporation of high-tonnage lifting systems responds to the growing need to optimize the handling of heavy materials within industrial facilities linked to the energy sector.
Westcon Helgeland strengthens its industrial capacity
Westcon Helgeland operates in areas such as ship repair, oil platform maintenance, and the manufacture of industrial equipment for the oil and gas industry. The new plant in Nesna is part of the company’s strategy to expand its production capacity in Norway.
According to Arnt Skogsøy, CEO of Westcon Helgeland, the previous experience with Konecranes was decisive in selecting the Finnish manufacturer again.
Skogsøy highlighted that we have collaborated with Konecranes on previous crane deliveries and their understanding of our operational requirements has been fundamental to this project.
The executive added that the company needed a solution capable of efficiently handling complex components within the new facility.
