Equinor’s drilling of well 34/8-A-37 H at Skoll and Hati has concluded unsuccessfully. The operation was carried out precisely from the Visund A platform. However, the well is classified as dry.

This project is 140 kilometers from Florø. This is well number 29 of license 120. This license has been in place since 1985. The group includes Repsol, ConocoPhillips, and Petoro. Despite its great potential, the Norwegian subsurface delivered a negative surprise.

The goal was to find oil in the Lower Jurassic and Upper Triassic. The Statfjord Group had good-quality sandstone reservoirs. However, the reservoirs were water-filled. Likewise, traces of oil were found in the Lunde Formation. The vertical depth was 3,081 meters. These traces are not sufficient for profitable production.

The well reached a measured depth of 6,662 meters. After confirming the failure, the companies permanently plugged and abandoned the well. The Visund platform A has already completed its work there. Experts are now analyzing the data for future plans in the North Sea.
