Walmart and Nexamp have joined forces to develop 31 community solar development projects across five U.S. states. This ambitious plan will increase the availability of renewable energy and also offer thousands of consumers a more affordable and accessible way to take advantage of solar energy.

The projects focus on the development of solar farms that will generate more than 120 megawatts of clean electricity, benefiting more than 8,000 homes and providing significant savings on energy bills.

Impact of Nexamp’s community solar development

Nexamp’s community solar model allows residents to subscribe to solar projects without installing panels on their own rooftops. This is ideal for those who are unable to install photovoltaics on their homes, either due to space constraints or because they live in rented housing. Subscribers will see a significant reduction in their energy costs, with total savings estimated at over $2 million per year .

Beyond the environmental benefits, the collaboration between Walmart and Nexamp also has a strong economic impact. The investment in these solar initiatives is expected to generate more than 1,500 jobs during the construction and operation phases of the facilities. This will contribute to local economic growth, providing new job opportunities and strengthening the energy infrastructure in the communities that host these projects.

An alliance to accelerate the energy transition

This joint effort with Walmart allows us to expand access to clean and affordable energy , offering an effective solution for local homes and businesses. With these solar projects, we are taking an important step towards greater energy sustainability and cost reduction for consumers.

Commented Zaid Ashai, CEO of Nexamp.

For his part, Frank Palladino, vice president of Renewable Energy Strategy at Walmart, highlighted that the alliance with Nexamp is part of the company’s broader strategy to support communities through energy solutions that are both affordable and environmentally friendly.

Our collaboration not only drives the transition to clean energy, but also has a positive impact on the local economy and job creation.

Palladino said.

The 31 solar projects will be located in Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Illinois and Minnesota. These states were selected due to their high potential for integrating renewable energy into their grids, and the new installations will contribute to greater energy sustainability in these regions.
