With the official visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Saudi Arabia, TotalEnergies and Aljomaih Energy & Water Company (AEW) have signed a key agreement with the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) for the development of the 300 MW Rabigh 2 solar project . This agreement, a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA), marks a significant step forward in Saudi Arabia’s efforts to diversify its energy mix.

Rabigh 2 boosts Saudi Arabia’s energy transition

The Rabigh 2 project is part of Round 5 of the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP), which aims to improve the Kingdom’s energy mix. The Saudi Ministry of Energy oversees the program, which aims to achieve a balanced electricity production of 50% gas and renewable energy by 2030. The Rabigh 2 solar plant will be developed, built and operated by TotalEnergies and Aljomaih, with an estimated grid connection date of 2026.

This project reflects our ongoing commitment to Saudi Arabia’s energy transition and contributes to reducing emissions by providing more clean energy.
