YPF has completed the drilling of the longest lateral branch in the history of the Vaca Muerta field. The LLL-1861(h) well , located in Loma Campana, reached a lateral length of 4,948 meters and a total extension of 8,264 meters.
A record in Vaca Muerta for YPF
This achievement was accomplished in just 27 days, using advanced real-time technology that allowed adjustments to be made to the original design while the oil well was being drilled . Furthermore, the optimization allowed the operational flow to be controlled, achieving the recorded goal.
The operation highlighted the continuous improvement in operational efficiency, which has consistently managed to drill lateral branches exceeding 4,000 meters. This has reduced non-productive times and operating costs, optimizing the use of resources and strengthening the company’s competitiveness.
Furthermore, this progress is part of one of the largest drilling campaigns that YPF has planned for 2024, within the framework of the Vaca Muerta oil field. The objective is to substantially increase production in the Neuquén Basin and contribute to the sustainable energy development of Argentina. The YPF team has demonstrated a strong capacity for innovation, integrating cutting-edge technologies to maximize well performance.
With these developments, the company reaffirms its commitment to operational excellence, sustainability and strengthening the production of unconventional hydrocarbons in one of the largest fields in the world, such as Vaca Muerta.
