Towards zero carbon emissions

Grupo Bimbo, with presence in 34 countries, highlights that in 27 of them it has already managed to operate completely with electrical energy from renewable sources . Recently, the United States, Mexico, Ecuador, Brazil, South Korea, Guatemala, China (in the Quick Service Restaurants sector), Kazakhstan and Morocco have achieved this goal. These achievements reaffirm the commitment assumed by Grupo Bimbo in 2018 as part of the RE100 initiative, which seeks to achieve an operation with 100% electrical energy from renewable sources by 2025.

The goal towards zero net carbon emissions by 2050 is very ambitious, however, we continue to take firm steps not only with the use of clean electric energy, but also with our sustainable delivery fleet where we have more than 5 thousand vehicles that use fuel. alternating and 2,500 of these are electric units. Without a doubt, we have raised our level to become a sustainable company from design.”said Rafael Pamias, general operating director and chief sustainability officer of Grupo Bimbo.

It is important to mention that the company has established the Regenerative Agriculture approach as one of its main objectives. By 2030, it seeks to reach the figure of more than 200 thousand hectares of wheat cultivated using regenerative practices. Furthermore, it is proposed that by 2050, 100% of its essential ingredients come from lands cultivated through this agricultural modality.

In the area of Regenerative Agriculture, significant progress has been made, including the training of more than 570 farmers in the country to implement these practices. Likewise, more than 86 thousand hectares of wheat and corn have been planted using this farming method, which not only improves soil health and biodiversity, but also contributes to the health of productive ecosystems. . At the same time, these practices boost the nutritional contribution of inputs, carbon capture and improve the quality of life of farmers.
