Unity, a well integrity specialist based in Aberdeen, has strengthened its positioning in the energy industry after being awarded more than £6 million in new contracts. These include a multi-million-pound well decommissioning project in the North Sea with a global operator.

Well decommissioning: a key pillar in Unity’s strategy

Under this agreement, the company will provide full plug and abandonment services, including the supply of equipment and inspection activities that are already underway. This type of service is key to the management of mature offshore assets.

In addition to the new contracts, Unity has allocated £1.8 million to strengthen its technology portfolio focused on well intervention and integrity. Thanks to these capabilities, the company has secured a contract for services on 15 wells.

This approach enables operators to access end-to-end solutions from a single provider, reducing operational complexity and optimizing costs. It also positions the company as a strategic partner in oil and gas projects.

International expansion with a focus on Asia-Pacific

As part of its growth strategy, Unity has intensified its presence in the Asia-Pacific region. The company has already secured its first projects in Australia and Malaysia, aimed at supporting established offshore assets.

To lead this expansion, Stuart Slater has taken on regional management from Perth, supported by a local fleet equipped with proprietary technology.

In parallel, the company has brought in new executive profiles in key areas such as sales, finance, and marketing. This is complemented by a hiring plan that includes bringing on 17 new employees during the year.

According to Gary Smart, Unity’s CEO, the company aims to leverage its experience across more than 1,000 wells maintained and 300 abandoned in the UK to expand its global reach.
