First, the joint venture OranjeWind, formed by the corporations RWE and TotalEnergies, formalized a charter agreement for a five-year period with the firm Purus.
This agreement provides for the deployment of the construction and service vessel Purus Power to optimize operations at the OranjeWind offshore wind farm. In addition, the contractual document establishes an extension option at the end of the initial term.
The Purus Power vessel charter agreement
With regard to technical specifications, the vessel has a length of 88 meters and a beam of 19 meters. Consequently, its dimensions facilitate efficient navigation in the demanding environment of offshore wind facilities. Likewise, the battery-assisted diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system reduces fuel consumption and prepares the platform for future adaptations toward emission-free energy sources.
Moreover, the ship’s internal infrastructure is adapted to accommodate maintenance technicians during extended stays offshore. In this regard, the facilities include cabins, offices, meeting rooms, a gym, and a dining area. Similarly, the vessel integrates an advanced walk-to-work access system that ensures the safe transfer of personnel between the deck and the wind turbines.
On the one hand, OranjeWind’s Operations and Maintenance management, led by Bart van der Wielen, noted that integrating this technology improves logistical capabilities and safe offshore performance. According to management, this operational deployment will provide an optimal environment to maintain the wind farm’s long-term reliability. On the other hand, Purus spokespersons expressed their support for the project and highlighted the confidence placed in their crew’s ability to deliver stable and sustainable logistics.
