In a strategic move within the energy and industrial sectors, LANXESS and Fuelcare have formalized a collaboration agreement for the marketing of biocidal solutions aimed at fuel preservation. This alliance seeks to strengthen fuel storage management and stability in various production sectors.

Fuelcare, for its part, will assume distribution in Europe of products known as Kathon FP 1.5 and Preventol D2. In the British market, these will be sold under the FuelClear M15 brand, thus expanding their commercial reach and technical positioning.

Biocides to improve fuel storage

It is worth noting that Kathon FP 1.5 has full approval in the European Union under the Biocidal Products Regulation. This reinforces its reliability in terms of safety, efficacy, and regulatory compliance within the European market.

Furthermore, the collaboration will enable the company to offer specialized solutions to industries such as rail and maritime transport, power generation, and logistics. These applications require high standards of control in fuel storage, where microbial contamination poses a significant operational risk.

Microbial stability as a technical focus

In this context, microbial stability is a determining factor in fuel preservation. The presence of water in tanks promotes the proliferation of microorganisms at the water-fuel interface, generating biomass, sludge, and corrosive compounds.

As a result, filter blockages, tank deterioration, and system failures can occur. To address this, the use of biocides, along with appropriate dosing strategies, helps prevent these problems and improve operational reliability.

Likewise, technical maintenance and continuous monitoring are crucial to avoid interruptions in industrial operations.

An alliance with a technical and commercial focus

LANXESS highlights the strategic value of the agreement. Antonio Hurtado, sales director for EMEA, pointed out that Fuelcare’s experience in services and its customer-centric approach strengthen the joint proposal in the European market.

Meanwhile, Fuelcare brings over three decades of experience in fuel conservation programs. Its model integrates automated dosing technology and specialized technical support, elements that optimize fuel performance and shelf life.

According to Oliver Rumford-Warr, CEO of Fuelcare, fuel treatment requires a precise combination of product, strategy and technical assistance, aspects that are reinforced by this collaboration.

Operational expansion and growth in the European market

In parallel, Fuelcare continues to expand its operational infrastructure with new capacity in Shrewsbury, as well as at logistics centers in the Netherlands and Aberdeen. This expansion will improve coverage and service to customers across Europe.

On the other hand, LANXESS maintains its image as a global benchmark in specialty chemical products, with a presence in more than 30 countries and a strong focus on sustainability and advanced industrial solutions.
