The Angore project , led by Santos in Hela Province, Papua New Guinea, marks a significant step forward in the production of liquefied natural gas (LNG). This initiative, which is already fully operational, promises a supply of up to 350 million standard cubic feet per day , consolidating Papua New Guinea as a key player in the Asian energy market.

About the Angore project

With the completion of this project, Santos unlocks an estimated 1 trillion cubic feet of natural gas resource. This development ensures continued supply to PNG LNG, a consortium that since 2014 has delivered more than 83 million tonnes of LNG to customers in Asia , including companies such as Sinopec and Osaka Gas .

Santos CEO Kevin Gallagher highlighted that Angore is part of a series of strategic projects in 2024. Adjacent fields such as P’nyang and Muruk, together with the Hides Footwall exploratory well, open up new possibilities to sustain and expand PNG LNG’s productive capacity.

Santos and its partners, including ExxonMobil and JX Nippon, are actively working to optimize the processing infrastructure. This approach ensures greater efficiency and reinforces the commitment to sustainability and decarbonization, key elements for the future of the energy sector .

Papua New Guinea, supported by initiatives such as Angore, is positioning itself as a leader in LNG production. With additional projects in the pipeline and world-class infrastructure, the country is poised to meet growing energy demand in Asia.
