The Lava Genie is a completely different instrument to any traditional guitar. Despite its recognizable shape, the Genie has no strings . Instead, a touch-sensitive system is used to produce music quickly and easily. Players can trigger sounds, sequences, and rhythms with five illuminated pads that protrude from the body, while the touch-sensitive fretboard allows chords and arpeggios to be created with a simple touch.

What’s most impressive about the Lava Genie is its ability to offer an accessible musical experience for everyone, from beginners to seasoned creators. The companion mobile app, Lava+ , allows users to explore thousands of songs and sounds, while Lava’s AI tool helps transpose creations in real time.
Despite its compact size, the Lava Genie is equipped with an advanced sound system. The guitar features a 12W front speaker and a 20W subwoofer on the back, ensuring impressive sound quality without the need for additional amplifiers. In addition, the device features a 6-hour rechargeable battery , making it ideal for transport and practice on the go.
Crowdfunding campaign
To fund its production, Lava Music has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter . With starting prices starting at US$349 , backers will be able to get their own Lava Genie and enjoy free shipping and a free 3-month Lava+ membership.
