Aker Solutions, OneSubsea and TechnipFMC are participating in a Petrobras tender for the Brazilian federal oil company’s innovative subsea CO 2 separation system, two sources familiar with the matter told BNamericas.
Named Hisep, the equipment will be installed in the third stage of development of the Mero field (Mero 3), in the pre-salt of the Santos basin. As the Libra block asset is operated in consortium with private groups, the tender is not public.
Hisep is effectively a collector that will interconnect the lines of the Mero 3 subsea design and separate the CO 2 , re-injecting it into the well.
It will only send oil and gas to the FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading unit) drastically reducing the percentage of CO 2 in production.
In addition to reducing the space used at the top, Hisep will allow Petrobras to extract hydrocarbons without the risk of highly corrosive CO 2 coming into contact with the platform’s production lines and processing plant.
