From Houston, Texas during the ASNT 2023 annual conferenceRichard Blaser from Inspenet had the pleasure of interviewing Borja López, President & CEO of Innerspec Technologies. From advanced tools to novel applications, they are leading the way in the NDT field with advances that promise to revolutionize the way we inspect materials and structures.

New Technology for New Challenges

This year, Innerspec came to ASNT with eye-catching innovations, including its“Coda” instrument, a device that redefines inspection mobility and efficiency. The evolution of the portable IMAT is clearly aimed at being more accessible and efficient, opening the door to a wider range of field applications.

A Glimpse into the Future of NDT Inspection

Coda’s live demonstration showed us its ability to transmit data in real time via Wi-Fi, allowing it to be conveniently operated from a smartphone or tablet. The highlight was its use as a thickness gauge, reaching an unprecedented accuracy of up to 1/10,000th of an inch, showing consistent measurements with accuracy that borders on the implausible.

Sizing and Detection with Millimeter Accuracy

But Innerspec doesn’t stop there. Its new sensor, part of the Volta 2 instrument, not only finds defects but also sizes them, providing a detailed image of the remaining wall of a tube with just one scan. This breakthrough could mean a paradigm shift in the detection and assessment of corrosion and other moderate defects.

The Era of Efficiency and Versatility

In addition, its long-range UT scanner unveiled at ASNT this year is another example of Innerspec’s advanced engineering. Competitive in its segment, this scanner outperforms conventional piezoelectric transducers in size, ease of use and signal, promising significant improvements in the inspection of pipelines and other structures.

Innovation that Drives Industry

Their advances in NDT technology are a window into a future where accuracy and accessibility go hand in hand.“is not content to simply follow trends, but seeks to lead through innovation and quality.”
