Daphne Technology, a pioneer in environmental technology, has announced that its PureMetrics emissions measurement system will be installed on an LNG carrier managed by Latsco LNG LLC and chartered by Trafigura during the summer of 2024.

About the PureMetrics emissions measurement system

This advanced system will allow the real-time measurement of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, ensuring compliance with the MRV regulations of the European Union and DCS of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), in addition to optimizing operational efficiency and reduce costs .

Additionally, the PureMetrics system will integrate with existing technologies on the vessel, addressing technical challenges and meeting strict environmental requirements. This process will facilitate a significant improvement in the management and reduction of emissions through efficiency and innovation.

Dr. Mario Michan, CEO and founder of Daphne Technology , expressed his excitement about this first commercial contract with Trafigura, highlighting that the agreement represents a testament to the value and effectiveness of PureMetrics. Although Trafigura is one of Daphne Technology’s strategic investors, Michan emphasized that the investment relationship did not influence the contract decision, underscoring confidence in his company’s technology.

For her part, Margaux Moore, director of the energy transition and venture capital investment group at Trafigura, highlighted the importance of this implementation as an essential step to establish a standard in the measurement of GHG emissions within the group’s maritime operations. . This tool will provide crucial data for monitoring and implementing effective measures to reduce emissions.

Likewise, George Margaronis, CEO of Latsco LNG LLC, commented on his company’s enthusiasm for participating in such an innovative project, which will allow them to obtain a broader and more precise vision of the environmental impact of their maritime operations. This demonstrates, according to Margaronis, Latsco’s commitment to the efficient and responsible management of its vessels .

Implementing technologies like PureMetrics is not only critical to reducing the carbon footprint in shipping, but also offers a replicable model for other industries seeking to comply with increasingly strict environmental regulations. These types of innovations can be a catalyst for significant changes in the way global industries address sustainability and emissions reduction in their operations.
