ROCKWOOL Technical Insulation has introduced an advancement in corrosion under insulation (CUI) protection with the launch of PROROX-PS965 with CR-TEK. This solution, unveiled at AMPP 2024, was presented by Osama Hamza, Innovation Director, marking the first time a stone wool insulation product integrates a corrosion inhibitor, setting a new standard in industrial insulation.

A game-changer in corrosion under insulation protection

While ROCKWOOL’s stone wool insulation has long been recognized for its water repellency, fire resistance, and thermal performance, the addition of CR-TEK provides a second line of defense. If water infiltrates through damaged jacketing or joints, the corrosion inhibitor activates upon contact with moisture, effectively shielding pipes and reducing CUI risks.

For some years, we’ve had a lot of focus on how to push the boundaries of what Stonewool can do and improve its ability to mitigate CUI. And as of today, the new feature is that now you have an additional line of defense, which is a CUI inhibitor on the inside of the pipe section.

Tested and proven performance

PROROX-PS965 with CR-TEK has undergone rigorous testing, including ASTM G189 standards, demonstrating that it can improve CUI mitigation performance by up to five times compared to traditional insulation materials. Unlike other hydrophobic insulation materials with inhibitors, CR-TEK remains temperature-stable and maintains its effectiveness under a wide range of industrial conditions.

The future of industrial insulation

The introduction of this advanced insulation underscores ROCKWOOL Technical Insulation’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. By enhancing water repellence with an active corrosion protection mechanism, the company is delivering a comprehensive solution for industries seeking greater durability and efficiency in their insulation systems.
