Within the framework of ILTA 2024, Adam Vance dedicated a moment to the Inspenet team to share and explain some of the new Mesa ETP products.

Adam Vance, General Manager at Mesa ETP, a leading provider of above-ground storage tank (AST) components, announced the launch of its innovative Armor Fabric rim seal technology at the annual ILTA conference. This new product promises significantly extended service life and improved emissions control for AST operators.

Armor Fabric: Durability for Liquid Mounted Seals

Armor Fabric is a revolutionary new material designed specifically for use in liquid mounted rim seals. Traditional rim seals, which often utilize foam logs, are susceptible to wear and tear from contact with the tank wall. Mesa ETP’s rigorous testing demonstrates that Armor Fabric offers an exponential increase in abrasion resistance compared to traditional materials. In their demonstration, Armor Fabric withstood over 200,000 abrasion cycles, exceeding the performance of traditional foam logs by a factor of 40. This translates to a potential service life of 10-15 years, significantly exceeding that of mechanical shoe seals.

Addressing Industry Challenges

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognizes liquid mounted seals as the most efficient primary seal solution for ASTs due to their ability to minimize vapor space and subsequent emissions. Armor Fabric further enhances this efficiency by ensuring long-lasting performance and reducing the need for replacements.

Mesa ETP: A Committed Partner

Mesa ETP’s commitment to innovation extends beyond Armor Fabric. The company is a longstanding leader in AST component development, having pioneered gauge pole covers, widely used in the industry today. Their focus on research and development ensures they remain at the forefront of emissions control solutions.

“At Mesa ETP, we understand the challenges faced by AST operators,” said Adam. “We are dedicated to developing solutions that enhance efficiency, safety, and environmental responsibility. Armor Fabric is a significant step forward in achieving these goals.”
