Retiran casi 4.000 Tesla Cybertruck por problemas mecánicos

Tesla has begun a recall process for 3,878 units of its Cybertruck model due to a mechanical failure that could cause unexpected accelerations, thus increasing the danger of accidents. This problem was reported to the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on April 17, after the company discovered that the accelerator pedal could become stuck in the acceleration position .

According to the information provided by the regulatory entity, the failure affects vehicles produced between November 13, 2023 and April 4 of this year . The firm will take corrective measures on the affected Cybertrucks, either replacing or modifying the accelerator pedal.

This issue came to light thanks to a customer notice received on the last day of March, although so far, Tesla has confirmed that no accidents or injuries linked to this defect have been reported .

Notably, Elon Musk, founder of Tesla, has continued to promote the Cybertruck as a futuristic vision of transportation, noting during a launch event last November that this vehicle represented the beginning of an era where “the future will look like the future.” Despite introducing the model for the first time in November 2019, Tesla only began delivering the first Cybertrucks in December 2023 and plans to reach annual production of 250,000 units by 2025 . The following video from the Tesla channel shows just some of the vehicle’s abilities.

In a broader context, Tesla also announced this week a reduction of more than 10% of its global workforce . This measure is due to the need to adapt to an increasingly competitive market in the field of electric vehicles and a growth in demand that has begun to slow down in some markets.

This incident highlights the importance of strengthening safety measures in the production of electric vehicles , especially in models that incorporate innovative technologies such as the Cybertruck. As the industry moves toward greater automation and new designs, it is crucial that companies maintain a balance between innovation and safety to protect consumers and strengthen confidence in electric vehicles.
