TDI-Brooks, a geotechnical and oceanographic services company, has taken a major step in modernizing its research vessel R/V Brooks McCall . The vessel has undergone a diesel engine upgrade to meet strict California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations, underscoring its commitment to sustainability and environmental protection.
This upgrade ensures that the R/V Brooks McCall, a multi-purpose vessel already compliant with the U.S. Jones Act, remains within emission standards. With this upgrade, TDI-Brooks seeks to ensure air quality and mitigate the risks of exposure to pollutants.
R/V Brooks McCall to boost wind energy on the West Coast
In addition to the engine modernization, TDI-Brooks plans to deploy the R/V Brooks McCall along the West Coast of the United States in May or June 2025. This vessel will provide support to offshore wind developers, bolstering the company’s expertise in performing geotechnical surveys.
The company has operated a fleet of research vessels on both the East Coast and the Gulf of Mexico, contributing to the development of offshore wind farms . This new deployment is a key step forward in supporting the renewable sector in the U.S. and other military projects.
TDI-Brooks once again demonstrates its commitment to green initiatives and sustainability with active participation in emerging sectors such as renewable energy .
