Inyanga Marine Energy Group has announced the acquisition of the D10 tidal turbine , a milestone in renewable energy in France . Installed in 2015 off the coast of Brittany, this turbine was the first to be connected to the country’s electricity grid, providing clean energy to the island of Ushant.
Previously owned by French company Sabella, which went into liquidation in January 2024, the D10 turbine will now be managed by Inyanga Marine Energy until 2028 , with permits already approved. Based in the UK with an office in Brittany, Inyanga has been in charge of operations at the site since 2016, managing the turbine’s offshore activities.
D10 tidal turbine generates 250 kW in Fromveur
The D10 turbine, located at a depth of 55 metres in the Fromveur Pass, stands out for its efficiency and capacity to generate up to 250 kW of electricity . Since its deployment in 2022, the machine has operated continuously, improving its performance and without causing a negative impact on the marine ecosystem . This 17-metre-high and 10-metre-diameter device has proven to be a key piece in the transition towards renewable energies in the region.

The Fromveur Pass, where the turbine is located, is one of the areas with the strongest tidal currents in France, making it an ideal location for generating energy from tidal motion. Inyanga Marine Energy continues to move towards its goal of being a pioneer in harnessing this natural resource to generate green energy.
