ENGIE makes progress in Lomas de Taltal wind farm after energizing the first wind turbine

ENGIE maintains its energy transition goals in Chile by announcing the completion of the first phase to energize the Lomas de Taltal wind farm project . In addition, the first wind turbine has been officially permitted to be connected.

This project is located in the Antofagasta region, the Lomas de Taltal Wind Farm is destined to be one of the largest sources of renewable energy in Chile. Once it is in full execution and operation, it is estimated that this plant will contribute 342 MW to the Chilean National Electric System, making it the largest renewable generation facility operated by ENGIE.

In relation to this achievement, Juan Villavicencio, Managing Director GBU Renewables at ENGIE, noted the importance of this breakthrough for the construction team, and the company’s transformation objectives. Villavicencio mentioned that the completion of this phase is a testament to the commitment and collective effort that drives the energy project.

In addition, Villavicencio reported that the wind farm has reached an advance of more than 80%, with 24 of the 57 wind turbines installed.
