The Mexican Hydrogen Association (AMH) has inaugurated the Mexican Hydrogen Center, an entity aimed at promoting project development and innovation in clean hydrogen technologies, with the objective of attracting significant investment for the sector in Mexico.
Clean hydrogen in Mexico
According to the AMH, it is expected that investment in clean hydrogen in Mexico could reach US$60 billion in the period between 2024 and 2050.
Israel Hurtado, who chairs the AMH, shared that there are currently 15 clean hydrogen projects under development in different states of the country, with investments already totaling 20 billion dollars. An analysis conducted by the association suggests that, given the size of the Mexican market, investments could reach US$60 billion in the coming decades.
Hurtado also mentioned that Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) has integrated clean hydrogen into its sustainability strategy, projecting significant revenues from this sector for the coming years, reaching up to four billion dollars by 2050.
The purpose of the Mexican Hydrogen Center
During a press conference, Hurtado explained that the Mexican Hydrogen Center will act as a key driver in the development of new technologies and the training of specialized talent in the field of hydrogen. The institution plans to offer courses, workshops and seminars to train professionals in this emerging sector.
