Inauguran el Centro Mexicano de Hidrógeno

The Mexican Hydrogen Association (AMH) has inaugurated the Mexican Hydrogen Center, an entity aimed at promoting project development and innovation in clean hydrogen technologies, with the objective of attracting significant investment for the sector in Mexico.

According to the AMH, it is expected that investment in clean hydrogen in Mexico could reach US$60 billion in the period between 2024 and 2050.

Israel Hurtado, who chairs the AMH, shared that there are currently 15 clean hydrogen projects under development in different states of the country, with investments already totaling 20 billion dollars. An analysis conducted by the association suggests that, given the size of the Mexican market, investments could reach US$60 billion in the coming decades.

Hurtado also mentioned that Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) has integrated clean hydrogen into its sustainability strategy, projecting significant revenues from this sector for the coming years, reaching up to four billion dollars by 2050.

The purpose of the Mexican Hydrogen Center

During a press conference, Hurtado explained that the Mexican Hydrogen Center will act as a key driver in the development of new technologies and the training of specialized talent in the field of hydrogen. The institution plans to offer courses, workshops and seminars to train professionals in this emerging sector.

AMH currently has 60 member companies and seeks to expand its network by incorporating more companies and educational institutions, research centers and universities to foster cooperation and the exchange of knowledge and resources.

The Mexican Hydrogen Center, which is the first of its kind in the country, will begin operations with resources from the association itself and is expected to begin training activities in six months. This effort is supported by strategic alliances already established with institutions such as the Institute of Renewable Energies of the UNAM and the National Institute of Electricity and Clean Energies, among others.

Hurtado also underscored Mexico’s strategic position, which not only participates in the free trade agreement with the United States and Canada, but also has the potential to become a major player in the global economy. key player in the development of clean hydrogen for Latin Americaa region with an estimated $85 billion market for related projects.

It is important to mention that the inauguration of the Mexican Hydrogen Center symbolizes an important step towards strengthening the clean hydrogen sector in Mexico and Latin America.
