California-based startup Pebble has developed an electric motorhome called Flow. It is equipped with an autonomous propulsion system powered by a solar-powered lithium battery, allowing it to operate without being connected to the electrical grid for approximately a week . It can park in tight spaces and, with the touch of a button, deploy its awning, stairs, lights and automatic leveling system.
The Flow caravan, which is 7.6 meters long and has lined windows, incorporates a propulsion system that is responsible for carrying the weight of the trailer while moving.
How does this electric motorhome work?
Flow owners can disconnect the camper from the tow vehicle and, through the Pebble app, maneuver, turn and drive it into their parking space. When they want to connect it again, they can also do so through the same application.
Once parked, Pebble’s “InstaCamp” system automatically initiates a series of actions in the motorhome. Open the exterior awning, deploy the entry ladder, activate the lights and ensure the trailer is level. This same system speeds up the process of disassembling the camp when you are leaving.
Additionally, the aforementioned application provides control over various functions of the trailer, such as lighting, door locks, temperature and others.
All of these smart and practical trailer functions are connected to a robust 45 kWh LFP battery, which is integrated into its chassis. This not only powers the camping functions of the caravan, but also serves as a power source. To keep it charged, a 1000-watt solar panel has been installed on the roof, which absorbs energy during the trip and when the caravan is parked.
Additionally, Pebble has given the Flow the ability to charge its battery via alternating or direct current at home, at campsites, and at electric vehicle charging stations. Likewise, it has the ability to supply power for camping devices, charge recreational or electric vehicles independently, and serve as a backup power source at home.
What’s inside Flow?
Inside, the trailer has a space that can be transformed from a dining room to a double bed. Additionally, the trailer has been equipped with plug-and-play Starlink connectivity for access to a high-speed and reliable Internet connection.
As for amenities, the camper includes a two-burner induction cooktop, a 4-in-1 convection microwave, and a full-size refrigerator. Likewise, the presence of a large bathroom that features smart electrochromic glass walls stands out, allowing you to switch between opaque and transparent as necessary.
Pebble has already opened pre-sales for the Flow trailer, with a starting price of $109,000. Those interested in seeing it will get their first chance during the Los Angeles Auto Show, which will be open to the public from November 17 to 26 . From there, Pebble plans to have the trailers ready for delivery in late 2024.
