Ensuring structural integrity by inspecting storage tanks is a critical need for industrial companies. So says Brian Smith. PMP, Business Development Manager for Ranger Inspection™, a company with more than two decades providing specialized inspection, calibration and technical consulting services in highly regulated industries.
According to Smith, Ranger Inspection™’s focus is on providing API 653, 510 and 570 inspections that meet the standards required by audits from agencies such as FEMSA, EPA and OSHA. These inspections are divided into external inspections every five years and internal inspections every ten years, in addition to annual seal reviews. The company uses drones to access critical areas, which reduces operating time and risk.
Technical reports prepared for regulatory audits
One of the factors that differentiates the company in the market is the quality of its reports, which, according to Smith, the team prepares focused on identifying specific faults, interpreting their origin and offering corrective recommendations that help clients meet the required safety and environmental standards.
It’s a very good inspection report, really focuses on what issues the tank has and how we can get them up to the standards for FEMSA audits, EPA audits, and OSHA audits.

Drone inspection: efficiency without compromising on safety
The aerial inspections with drones have gained prominence, especially for checking roofs and elevated structures, allowing faster diagnostics without putting personnel at risk. In complex situations, such as corrosion failures, ruptures or clogged seals, the Ranger team can perform failure analysis supported by detailed images obtained by these technologies.
Confined space safety: a non-negotiable principle
Safety is at the core of all Ranger Inspection™ operations, which is why all Ranger Inspection™ workers are certified for confined space interventions and strict rescue and risk control protocols are applied.
The main guideline is that everyone returns home safely. […] So we are very stringent on safety. We have a pretty impeccable safety record over 25 years.
Brian Smith.
