As part of the 20th SLOM 2024 Conference, Buzca, a Colombian company specializing in integrated solutions, has made its mark at the event by presenting its innovative capabilities in maritime engineering.

Sergio Iván Gómez, founder of Buzca, shared his experience and vision in an interview with the Inspenet team during the conference. Founded 50 years ago by a retired Navy captain, the company began as an industrial diving company. Gómez, who joined Buzca 30 years ago, has transformed the company, which now excels in the design and consulting of ports and maritime structures throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.

“Today, our company focuses on developing engineering projects ranging from subsea platforms and pipelines to offshore structures. We pride ourselves on offering customized solutions that improve safety and efficiency in maritime operations,” said Gómez.

Buzca has been supporting the SLOM Partnership for 15 to 20 years, highlighting the value of collaboration in promoting project safety. “We share lessons learned and experiences with other operators, enabling us to conduct safer operations,” he added.

Gómez explained the port design process, which begins with the client’s needs and ranges from conceptual engineering to final construction. “Our ability to adapt to our clients’ needs and offer innovative solutions sets us apart in the industry,” he stressed. As the company moves forward, Gomez maintains his vision for growth and sustainability. “My dream is to continue to expand Buzca to benefit the families that are part of our community,” he concluded.
