The Zaldívar solar project, developed by FreePower Group, receives secured environmental approval and supervision over new interconnection infrastructure, where the project is preparing to enter the sectoral permitting phase and begin construction in the first quarter of 2026.
Zaldívar solar project obtains full environmental support
The facility obtained its Environmental Qualification Resolution(RCA), which approves both the construction and operation of the solar plant and its corresponding transmission line. During August, the Environmental Evaluation Service ( SEA) confirmed that a new SEIA is not required for the development of a new line at the Nueva Zaldívar substation.
The new line segment consists of a set of equipment that will facilitate the integration between the park’s transmission line and the Nueva Zaldívar substation. This guarantees an efficient and safe connection to the National Electric System(SEN).
This development is located in the Antofagasta region. The project includes the installation of 384,076 solar modules with a nominal capacity of 250 MW. In addition to this, a storage system with the same capacity and four hours of autonomy will be installed, which will allow better management of the energy injected into the SEN.
It is estimated that the construction phase will generate up to 1,200 jobs at its peak, which represents a boost to the local economy. With a projected useful life of 35 years, the solar power plant will solar plant plant will make a sustained contribution to the country’s clean electricity supply, strengthening the national strategy for the transition to renewable sources.
FreePower Group is leading the development of the Zaldívar project as part of its growth strategy in the clean energy segment. clean energy segment.. With this initiative, the company reaffirms its commitment to the responsible development of solar infrastructure and progress towards a decarbonized energy matrix.
