Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company today introduced a concept tire made from 90% sustainable material. The demo tire passed all applicable government tests, as well as Goodyear’s internal tests.
This concept tire has lower rolling resistance compared to the reference tire made from conventional materials. This allows lower fuel consumption and therefore a reduction in CO 2 emissions.
In 2022, Goodyear introduced a concept tire made from 70% sustainable material. In collaboration with its partners, Goodyear plans to start selling it this year.
Bringing a tire made from 90% sustainable materials to market requires further collaboration with the company’s supply base to determine the scale needed for these innovative materials to mass-produce such tires.
