The Sungrow 1+X 2.0 Inverter has been designed to operate in the most challenging environments on the planet. In regions such as the Middle East, North Africa and the Taklamakan desert, where PV power plants photovoltaic plants face constant sandstorms, this equipment has proven its ability to maintain performance without incurring high maintenance costs.
These arid areas have served as a testing ground to validate the resistance of technological solutions to extreme conditions. In this context, the Sungrow inverter has demonstrated outstanding reliability.
100-day test of the Sungrow inverter under extreme conditions
Together with TÜV Rheinland, a globally recognized technical inspection organization, Sungrow subjected the 1+X 2.0 to an intensive 100-day test in a desert environment with frequent sandstorms.
During the experiment, the team faced winds in excess of 90 km/h, reduced visibility to less than 100 meters and PM10 dust concentrations in excess of 4000 μg/m³. Despite these conditions, the system maintained stable performance without requiring technical intervention.
Three pillars of dust protection
The secret behind its performance lies in a three-tiered approach to defense:
- Advanced filtration system: Unlike conventional filters, the 1+X 2.0 incorporates a dual-layer structure that effectively blocks large particles, while its straight-flow design prevents internal dust accumulation.
- IP66 hermetic sealing: Critical components such as IGBTs and capacitors are encapsulated in a completely sealed compartment, preventing particle ingress and extending inverter life.
- Self-cleaning with artificial intelligence: The equipment has sensors that monitor dust saturation in the ducts and automatically activates a reverse airflow to dislodge obstructions, significantly reducing manual maintenance tasks.
Sustained and uninterrupted performance
Following the test campaign, technical analysis confirmed that the unit showed no signs of failure or loss of power. The power generation curve remained constant even during the most critical 45 days with active storms.
This performance suggests that the 1+X 2.0 not only withstands the harsh environment, but also ensures operational efficiency without sacrificing reliability.
A renewed standard for the solar industry
For areas where solar solar power and abrasive conditions, technology that does not require continuous maintenance is a decisive factor. The performance of the 1+X 2.0 offers a concrete alternative to reduce downtime and optimize operational costs, setting a new benchmark in solutions for extreme climates.
Sungrow’s experience proves that structural innovation and intelligent automation intelligent automation can make a difference for PV projects in desert environments. In a world seeking to accelerate the energy transition, having equipment capable of adapting to the most demanding conditions is no longer an option: it is a necessity.
