Operations are scheduled to commence in October or November 2025, immediately following the conclusion of the current platform contract in Denmark. This award represents Shelf Drilling ‘s first presence in the Dutch North Sea area, at a time when the local offshore industry is experiencing an upturn driven by the government’s interest in strengthening domestic gas production.

Tenaz Energy, which this year became the second largest operator of natural gas assets in Dutch waters after acquiring Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij (NAM), is relying on Shelf Drilling Winner to advance its multi-year development program. NAM, formerly jointly owned by Shell PLC and ExxonMobilbrings to Tenaz a significant portfolio of strategic assets in the region.

The Shelf Drilling Winner is a jack-up platform jack-up rig, designed to operate in harsh environmental conditions and in shallow water. This technical capability, coupled with Shelf Drilling North Sea’s experience, will allow Tenaz Energy to execute its drilling plans with high standards of safety and efficiency.

Greg O’Brien, CEO of Shelf Drilling, mentioned that this contract expedites the company’s expansion into new markets and consolidates its position in the North Sea. He stated that the objective is to offer safe, efficient operations aligned with the best sustainability practices, responding to the region’s energy needs.
