On March 15, it was announced that Dolphin Drilling, an offshore drilling contractor, will offshore drilling contractor has been awarded a drilling contract valued at US$154 million with Oil India. This is intended for use with the Blackford Dolphin platform.

Under the terms set forth in the definitive contract, Dolphin Drilling will deploy the Blackford Dolphin semi-submersible drilling rig to support Oil India’s exploration and development activities, with operations expected to commence in the second half of 2024.

This agreement is a follow-up to the Letter of Award that Dolphin Drilling signed with Oil India in October 2023.

Blackford Dolphin rig drilling operations

The contract covers a three-well drilling campaign with a firm duration of 14 months, representing a firm value of $154 million for the rig and associated services, plus an optional seven-month period.
