How do solar panels on railway tracks generate energy?

The project, which will be carried out on transN line 221 , will include the installation of 48 solar panels along 100 meters of track , generating an installed capacity of 18 kWp. This solar plant has the potential to produce up to 16,000 kWh of electricity per year, enough to feed into the local power grid, demonstrating the ability to take advantage of underused spaces between train lines to generate clean energy.

Sun-Ways has designed a unique system that allows for the rapid installation and removal of panels, without affecting rail traffic or track maintenance. This technological advance facilitates the electrification of mobility and also expands the possibilities of renewable energy production in urban and industrial areas.

Sun-Ways expands its photovoltaic system globally

The company has confirmed that other similar projects are underway in countries such as France, Spain and South Korea, with plans for global expansion, including discussions with partners in China and the United States. Technical development is almost complete and the system is expected to be fully operational in Europe by 2030 , with significant generation capacity that will boost the decarbonisation of transport .
