PETRONAS Carigali, the exploration and production subsidiary of Malaysia’s national oil company, has taken a strategic step by signing an expanded agreement with Geoteric, a company specializing in seismic interpretation software with artificial intelligence. This alliance reinforces the commitment of both companies to technological innovation and efficiency in upstream operations.
Seismic exploration with AI solutions
The agreement provides for the global implementation of AI solutions developed by Geotericwhich enable geoscience teams to analyze seismic data with greater accuracy and in significantly shorter timeframes. In fact, the software has been shown to reduce interpretation cycles by up to 90%, which directly impacts the speed of identifying new hydrocarbon prospects.
Through this collaboration, PETRONAS Carigali will be able to integrate optimized workflows across its exploration portfolio, driving a more standardized and productive approach to project execution. By adopting Geoteric’s all-access model, the company also ensures operational scalability and greater return on investment on seismic data.
In addition to its immediate impact on technical processes, the agreement positions PETRONAS Carigali as a major player in the joint development of new geoscience tools.
