Global renewable energy company Zelestra has taken a firm step in expanding its presence in Latin America with the entry into commercial operation of the San Martin solar plant, the largest ever built in Peru, with 300 MWdc of installed capacity.

To begin with, this infrastructure is located in La Joya, Arequipa, on more than 600 hectares and is equipped with 450,000 photovoltaic modules. photovoltaic modules. Thanks to this, the solar power plant will generate more than 830 GWh per year, enough to supply more than 440,000 Peruvian households. In addition, it will prevent the emission of 166,549 tons of CO₂ each year, consolidating its position as a significant contribution to the sustainability and energy development of the country.
Moreover, construction was executed by Zelestra’s own EPC division in less than 18 months and reached a peak of 900 jobs, reflecting its management capacity and commitment to efficiency. Electricity production production is contracted on a long-term basis by Kallpa Generación through a PPA, which will allow it to expand its energy matrix with more solar energy. solar energy.
Peru advances in sustainability with support from Zelestra and EQT
The company already has more than 7 GW in solar projects and storage systems storage systems in Latin America. The company is backed by EQT and is among the top ten clean energy providers for corporate clients worldwide.
The inauguration was also attended by top-level Peruvian authorities, including President Dina Boluarte and Minister of Energy and Mines Jorge Montero Cornejo, who underscored the importance of the project in the move towards a diversified and sustainable electricity matrix.
