Naturgy has started up its first photovoltaic plant in the province of Seville, an initiative that reinforces its commitment to renewable energies in Spain. The facility is located in Villanueva del Rey, between the municipalities of Ecija and La Luisiana, and has a capacity of 50 MW. This project will generate 111 GWh of energy per year, enough to supply 34,000 Andalusian homes with 100% clean electricity.
With an investment of 60 million euros, the plant seeks to boost the energy transition to the energy transition and significantly reduce CO₂ emissions, avoiding up to 56,000 tons per year. In addition, during its construction and operation, the project has generated more than 350 direct and indirect jobs, demonstrating the positive impact of this type of initiative on the local economy.

Naturgy expands its network with photovoltaic plant in Seville
The success of this plant is just the beginning. The company has nine other photovoltaic projects in Seville which will add an additional 200 MW to the power grid. In addition, the company will also develop a biomethane plant in Utrera, which will have the capacity to supply renewable gas to 10,500 homes, reaffirming its key role in the region’s energy sustainability.
With the start-up of this plant in Villanueva del Rey, Naturgy now operates three photovoltaic parks in Andalusia, totaling 305 MW of renewable power. These projects are part of a broader strategy, with which the company seeks to lead the transition to a more sustainable energy mix in Spain and also in key markets such as the United States and Australia.
