HiTHIUM submits its batteries to the most extreme fire test

The HiTHIUM system withstood 15 hours of intense fire with zero spread, even without an active extinguishing system.

Chinese manufacturer HiTHIUM has successfully completed the first large-scale, open-door fire test for energy storage systems, setting systems, setting a new safety benchmark in the industry.

At the UL Solutions test center, HiTHIUM subjected its ∞Block 5MWh system to a realistic fire scenario with the most severe conditions possible. The four battery units were exposed to flames for more than 15 hours without spreading the fire to adjacent containers.

This is how the fire test went

The units were positioned with only 15 cm side and rear clearance, defying traditional thermal standards. In addition, the tests were conducted with the doors fully open to maximize oxygen flow. Each unit operated at 100% load (SOC) and without an active fire suppression system.

Certification under international standards

The test was observed by U.S. fire protection engineers and met UL 9540A and NFPA 855 standards. The system structure remained intact, demonstrating the effectiveness of its multilayer passive architecture.

This breakthrough underscores HiTHIUM’s ability to offer solutions that meet critical safety requirements, especially in a context of growing concern about thermal runaway. The company consolidates its leadership as a supplier of lithium battery technologies. lithium battery technologies battery technologies with a unique focus on energy storage, with a presence in more than 20 countries.

HiTHIUM has announced that it will continue to develop rigorous validation protocols in conjunction with certification bodies, reaffirming its commitment to a safe and reliable energy future. This test sets a precedent for the new regulations in BESS SYSTEMS systems on a global scale.
