Marine lighting solutions specialist Glamox has secured contracts to supply more than 5,000 specialist, energy-efficient LED lights for new oil platforms in the North Sea.

This contract owns the Yggdrasil and Valhall PWP-Fenris development platforms, where an intelligent lighting system will be implemented, including connected lights and remote-controlled projectors.
The Yggdrasil platform , located on the largest ongoing exploitation of the Norwegian continental shelf, will use remotely controlled interior and exterior lighting, which will be implemented for the first time on explosion-proof offshore platforms.
Smart lighting technology for remote operations, allowing inspection and maintenance teams to activate or dim lights from the ground, which is essential for the efficient operation of unmanned platforms.
In line with sustainability and energy efficiency objectives, the luminaires supplied by Glamox are designed to withstand the extreme conditions of the North Sea. In addition, they will be integrated into an automatic remote lighting management system, which allows operators to regulate the lights according to the needs of each moment, improving the safety and efficiency of operations.
Glamox has been selected to provide the lighting, processing platform at the Hugin A oilfield, operated by Aker BP , and other facilities in the Yggdrasil area, which will begin production in 2027. This partnership with Aker Solutions to provide explosion-proof lighting reinforces Glamox’s commitment to innovation and improving safety in oilfield operations.
