Chile is once again on the global energy map. The Spanish multinational GES, part of CL Grupo Industrial, has confirmed the construction of a hybrid project that will combine solar energy photovoltaic, wind and battery storage. With a capacity of more than 695 MW, this is the company’s largest initiative in Latin America.
GES boosts its global strategy with a new hybrid project
The project project marks the 400th since the founding of GES and consolidates its internationalization strategy. Since 2013, the company has installed more than 1,178 MW in the country, reinforcing its role as a key partner in engineering and construction of large-scale renewable infrastructures.
In the last six years, Chile has increased the share of solar and wind energy in its energy matrix tenfold, reaching nearly 40% of installed capacity. The official goal is for renewables to account for 80% by 2030 and to achieve carbon neutrality. carbon neutrality neutrality by 2050. The new plant is part of this goal and will become the plant with the largest battery storage capacity in Latin America.
A commitment to diversification
GES is also moving forward with projects in Romania, Portugal and Central America. The focus is clear: to diversify its activity and focus on storage as a pillar of the energy future. With more than 30 GW of wind and 2.7 GW of solar power installed in 21 countries, the company is seeking to expand its experience in the integration of different renewable technologies.
Belonging to CL Industrial Group provides GES with financial backing and a diversified business network in sectors such as steel, chemicals and packaging. This synergy allows it to take on large-scale projects and maintain a long-term vision in the development of sustainable energy solutions.
