Figure 03 is here! A truly general purpose robot

The humanoid robot is ready for mass production and integration with advanced AI in both home and commercial environments.

Figure AI, the U.S. startup, announced the launch of Figure 03, its third-generation robot designed to be mass-produced and operate safely in domestic environments, thanks to its combination of advanced hardware and an artificial intelligence called Helix.

What are the technical improvements of Figure 03?

Helix AI system

The core of Figure 03 is Helix, the artificial intelligence system that allows reasoning and acting through vision, language and movement. It also incorporates a completely revamped camera system that offers twice the frame rate, lower latency and a 60% wider field of view.

The robot’s hands The robot’s hands have integrated palm cameras for viewing in confined spaces and touch sensors capable of detecting up to 3 grams of pressure, giving it precise manipulation, ideal for complex tasks such as opening cabinets or grasping fragile objects.

Adaptation to the home

Figure AI’s main goal is that their robot can coexist with people at home and to achieve this they have designed the exterior of Figure 03 with soft fabrics and multi-density foam to eliminate hard edges and make the humanoid robot softer to the touch and lighter. In addition, these parts of the robot’s exterior are removable and washable.

On the other hand, it has a UN38.3 certified battery with multiple layers of fail-safe protection, which is recharged inductively through its feet. The audio system was also improved with a more powerful speaker and a repositioned microphone for clearer voice interaction.

Mass production

One of the main differences with respect to previous models previous models Figure 03 aims to be a mass-produced robot, so the number of parts was drastically reduced and migrated to production processes with industrial tools such as injection molding and die casting, leaving behind CNC machining, used in the manufacture of the Figure 03. In addition, Figure has built a factory called BotQ, which is already operational and has an initial capacity of 12,000 robots per year and plans to reach 100,000 units in the next four years.

A robot with dual focus

Although the ultimate goal is to introduce the robot into homes, Figure 03 is already being prepared for the industrial environment. Its actuators are twice as fast as in the previous version and offer better torque density, allowing it to perform tasks such as picking up and moving objects more efficiently.

The enhanced hands can handle objects such as small metal parts or deformable bags, and its wireless charging allows it to operate almost continuously. Companies can also customize the robots with rugged uniforms or visual adaptations, such as displays for quick identification in large fleets.

A career that is just beginning

Figure AI has managed to position itself as one of the most ambitious startups in the humanoid robotics sector, competing directly with giants such as Tesla or Unitree in the race to create the first truly viable humanoid robot. However, the company itself acknowledges that Figure 03 is not yet ready for home use, although it expects that to change by 2026.

For now, testing will focus on commercial scenarios with selected partners as the company continues to improve its AI system and physical capabilities.
