Everett Ship Repair(ESR) announces the acquisition of the Hercules, the largest floating drydock in Puget Sound. This strategic move significantly expands the shipyard’s operational capacity, while strengthening its collaboration with commercial and government entities such as the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard.

Hercules acquisition changes regional maritime landscape

The Hercules, now part of the ESR fleet, has an impressive cargo capacity of 35,000 metric tons, a length of 249.2 meters and an inside beam of 41.7 meters. These dimensions enable it to receive deep-draft vessels, including state-owned ferriesincluding state-owned ferries, military vessels and high tonnage commercial ships. In addition, with its arrival in Everett, following a tow from San Diego by the tug Delta Deanna, it marks a new stage in the region’s maritime infrastructure.

In addition to strengthening ESR’s operations, the arrival of the Hercules represents an economic growth opportunity for the Puget Sound area. The expansion is expected to hire skilled personnel such as welders, machinists, electricians and pipefitters, creating stable jobs in a key industry for the region.

ESR has thus established itself as an indispensable partner in the maintenance and conversion of military and commercial vessels . With the integration of the Hercules, the shipyard increases its technical capacity to respond to the logistical requirements of the U.S. Navy, the Coast Guard and private operators, consolidating its position as an essential infrastructure for the country’s defense and maritime economy.

The Hercules joins the Faithful Servant and the Emerald Lifter, the other two dry docks operated by ESR. This expansion allows the company to take on larger projects, and enhances the company’s commitment to innovation, operational efficiency and sustainable growth in the marine industry.
