The TP1000, an innovative cargo drone developed by China’s Yitong UAV System Co. , has successfully completed its maiden flight in Qingdao, Shandong Province. This large-capacity UAV ( unmanned aerial vehicle ) is the first of its kind in China, with a payload of up to 1,000 kilograms and an operational range of 1,000 kilometers.

Advanced technology in the cargo drone

The TP1000 has been developed to meet Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) standards, enabling it to achieve key certifications ahead of its commercial launch in 2026. Compared with its predecessor, the TP500, this new model offers extended range and greater cargo efficiency.

One of the TP1000’s highlights is its intelligent airdrop functionality, making it ideal for disaster relief missions and rapid supply deliveries to hard-to-reach areas. It also features a spacious cargo hold and a design optimized for integration with other logistics systems.

Market expansion and future prospects

The cargo drone sector is booming in China. According to estimates by the CAAC, the low-altitude economy could reach a value of 1.5 trillion yuan (approximately $209 billion) by 2025. Companies such as ZTO Express have already placed orders for this model, confirming its potential in the industry.

With the TP1000, China is strengthening its commitment to unmanned aviation, opening up new possibilities in logistics transport, surveillance, and emergency response. The development of these drones is expected to mark a turning point in air cargo mobility .
