Brazil’s National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Biofuels (ANP) has granted BW Energy an extension, allowing the production phase of the Golfinho field to continue until 2042. This decision follows the approval of the development plan submitted by the company in November 2024.

About the Golfinho field

Located in the Espírito Santo Basin, the field operates in water depths ranging from 1,300 to 2,200 meters. Hydrocarbon extraction is carried out through the Cidade de Vitória floating FPSO, acquired by BW Energy in November 2023, after assuming 100% ownership of the Golfinho and Camarupim clusters.

Since the start of operations in 2007, Golfinho has maintained constant production. With this extension, the company reinforces its strategy of optimizing current infrastructure while evaluating low-risk development opportunities in the same field.

The company’s CEO, Carl K. Arnet, emphasized that this decision consolidates a long-term vision in the region, focused on operational efficiency and leveraging proven reserves.

The expansion supports our long-term plans for the development of the Golfinho field, initially by improving the operational performance of the existing infrastructure and subsequently by targeting various development opportunities in the proven low-risk field. We see significant long-term value creation potential at Golfinho.
