Explore Acoustic Emission: The Future of Non-Destructive Testing

Author: Ph.D. Yolanda Reyes, July 13, 2022.
Acoustic Emission (EA) is a Non Destructive Testing (NDT) method, based on a physical phenomenon that takes place inside materials. It is defined as the spontaneous energy emitted by a material, in the form of transient elastic waves. They constitute a method applied to detect and locate leaks and defects such as cracks or corrosion in pressure equipment, machines, installations, cranes, bridges, etc. The advantage of the method is that defects can be recorded before they become problems.
