Explore Acoustic Emission: The Future of Non-Destructive Testing
Author: Ph.D. Yolanda Reyes, July 13, 2022.
Acoustic Emission (EA) is a Non Destructive Testing (NDT) method, based on a physical phenomenon that takes place inside materials. It is defined as the spontaneous energy emitted by a material, in the form of transient elastic waves. They constitute a method applied to detect and locate leaks and defects such as cracks or corrosion in pressure equipment, machines, installations, cranes, bridges, etc. The advantage of the method is that defects can be recorded before they become problems.
Women engineers: breaking barriers
The International Day of Women in Engineering was created by the Women’s Engineering Society (WES) in the United Kingdom (year 2014). Due to the boom that this date has taken, it has received the sponsorship of UNESCO in 2016, annually distinguishing 50 female engineers around the world who have excelled in their profession.
Innovative Solutions for Low-Carbon Hydrogen Production
This article describes the current processes and technologies with the greatest future potential for mass production of hydrogen: production from natural gas, through electrolysis, and with alternative sources such as biomass.
How Corrosion Fuels Environmental Pollution
Corrosion is a natural process of material degradation, with multiple consequences, not only economic, but also environmental and human.
Current research has focused its studies on the problems presented by metallic corrosion, caused by the progressive deterioration of the environment. However, there are few studies on the reverse case in relation to the effect that corrosion has on the environment.

The hydrogen vehicle myth or reality?
Author. Ph.D. Yolanda Reyes, February 28, 2022.
Hydrogen vehicles continue to generate certain misgivings in relation to the following aspects: from their profitability to their safety, the little information about them and their scarce presence in the current market has generated a series of myths about them, but how much truth is there? behind these vehicles?
