The long-awaited development plan for Ulsan Metro Railway Line 1 has successfully achieved approval in the government feasibility study, marking a significant milestone on its way to realization.

From Korea to Ulsan via hydrogen tram

This ambitious project, scheduled for completion in 2027, will bring Korea’s first hydrogen- powered tram to Ulsan, the only major city without an urban rail system.

The railway, which will have a total length of 10.99 kilometers , will establish a vital connection between Taehwagang Station and Shinbok Rotary, with the primary purpose of mitigating traffic congestion and establishing a highly efficient public transportation system.

It was initially approved in 2005 but postponed due to financial difficulties. The project was then revived during the 2010s.

With a total investment of 329.7 billion won , the project is expected to be completed by 2027, with a 6:4 financing split between the national and local governments.
