Japan plans to build a giant rotating structure on the Moon called “The Glass”, designed to house human life . This construction will be able to rotate every 20 seconds in order to simulate Earth’s gravity. The project, presented on July 5 by the Kajima Corporation during a conference organized by Kyoto University, seeks to recreate the conditions for life on Earth on the lunar surface.
The Kajima Corporation aims to reproduce the same gravity conditions that exist on Earth. To achieve this, a system has been developed that will use centrifugal force to generate artificial gravity similar to Earth’s on the satellite. This innovative project represents a step forward in space exploration and the possibility of inhabiting other celestial bodies.
The Glass: The giant rotating structure that could make the moon habitable
“The Glass” is an ambitious project that is estimated to last approximately 100 years. We may never get to witness the execution of this project by the Kajima Corporation, as the construction challenges and difficulties are significant and will require future technologies to overcome.
However, a smaller-scale and simpler version is expected to be present on the Moon by 2050. Although the expectations of completing the project are high, there are also risks involved.
No details have yet been provided on how the construction will take place, but it has been mentioned that the plans include Mars as well .
The creation of artificial gravity is a fundamental element in this project. The base of the building is designed to rotate on its own axis, thus generating an artificial gravity similar to that of the Earth. The project will be divided into different spaces that will allow the life of the inhabitants on the lunar surface.
The plan is to create a diverse environment that includes forests, waterfalls, and biodiversity . The Kajima Corporation has ambitious plans to develop a complete and habitable environment. In addition, it is planned to establish a transport system between the Moon and the Earth known as the “Hexagon Space Track System”.
Although “The Glass” still exists only on paper, it will require a long wait to see its construction started and completed.
