Chinese scientists are already testing 6G technology, successfully sending 1 Terabyte (TB) of data in just one second, which is equivalent to 1000 gigabytes (GB) or 1,000,000 megabytes (MB).
As reported by the South China Morning Post, a team of researchers from the School of Aerospace Engineering at Tsinghua University, Beijing, carried out a demonstration of 6G technology on the Beijing Olympic Games campus, where they managed to transmit data to 1 TB in just one second and 1 km away, far superior to 5G technology, which can reach up to 20 GB in one second.
The group of engineers led by Professor Zhang Chao managed to send 10,0000 HD videos simultaneously, thanks to 6G’s vortex millimeter waves, which Zhang Chao says adds “a new dimension to wireless transmission.”
The team realized that millimeter vortex waves grew in size with distance, so the signal weakened, making it difficult to transmit data at high speeds. To remedy this situation, Asian engineers used a unique transmitter that generated a smaller vortex, making the waves spin in three different modes to carry more information, increasing the speed exponentially.
“The result of this experiment shows that China is leading the global research in technology with key potential for 6G,” Chao said.
China recently announced that it had sent the first satellite with 6G technology into space. In the context of Chinese hypersonic weapons, the researchers claimed to have developed a terahertz transmitter, also close to this 6G technology.
So far, according to a survey by Nikkei, China holds more than 40% of the world’s 6G patent applications, followed by the United States with 35%, Japan (10%), Europe (9%) and Korea. of the South (4%).
