Amazon has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with R.Power to source 164 megawatts (MW) of solar power generated in Poland. This 15-year agreement becomes one of the largest solar PPAs signed in the country and reinforces both companies’ commitment to decarbonization and energy sustainability.
Large-scale renewable commitment
The contract will cover the electricity generated by two photovoltaic plants photovoltaic plants developed by R.Power, which will be used exclusively to supply clean energy to Amazon’s operations in the region. This decision is part of Amazon’s strategy to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040 by supporting its operational growth with local renewable sources.
From its headquarters in Warsaw, R.Power has intensified its presence in the European energy market. This new agreement represents a key opportunity to consolidate its portfolio of solar assets and position itself as a strategic player in the continent’s energy transition. The company thus reaffirms its role in the development of photovoltaic infrastructure infrastructure.
Poland and solar PPAs as a driver of change
The advance of such corporate energy deals reflects a structural change in the way large companies manage their climate footprint. In the case of Poland, historically dependent on coal, partnerships such as that between Amazon and R.Power mark an evolution towards a cleaner electricity system. cleaner, decentralized electricity system. and decentralized electricity system.
With more than 600 renewable energy projects projects underway globally, Amazon continues to lead corporate demand for clean energy. This new step in Poland strengthens not only its energy presence in Eastern Europe, but also the model of collaboration with local developers to accelerate the deployment of low-carbon solutions.
Meanwhile, R.Power demonstrates that long-term PPAs can be an effective tool for financing and operating competitive solar projects in emerging green energy markets.
