Yinson Production has taken a strategic step on its path towards energy transition by signing a cooperation agreement with the Norwegian company Carbon Circle AS. This collaboration aims to expand the development of carbon capture and carbon capture and storage (CCS), focusing especially on the CCaaS(carbon capture as a service) model for CO₂ emitting industries in Europe.

Carbon capture for industrial applications

The partnership focuses on the implementation of post-combustion capture technologies that allow CO₂ to be extracted directly from industrial processes such as combustion and chemical production. These emissions will then be transported and permanently stored in geological repositories. The shared goal is to offer industrial sectors effective decarbonization solutions with a modular, flexible and scalable approach.

This new agreement builds on the experience gained in the development of the first offshore post-combustion carbon capture unit, installed by Yinson on board the FPSO Agogo. This operational unit demonstrates the technical feasibility of integrating CCS technologies on floating platforms, optimizing existing resources to meet the climate challenge.

Carbon Circle will contribute with its line of modular carbon capture systems, which can be adapted to various industrial facilities without the need for major engineering works. These technologies fit with Yinson Production’s comprehensive approach, which through its subsidiary Stella Maris CCS seeks to build a complete value chain for carbon capture and storage.

Yinson Production’s technical director, Lars Gunnar Vogt, stated that this collaboration represents a significant step forward in making carbon capture a viable and environmentally meaningful solution. For his part, Carbon Circle CEO Geir Otto Amundsen noted that the agreement builds on a common vision and a successful precedent, which projects further joint developments in the short term.
